1. The last digit technique

The full house technique

Hello and welcome to this course on the last digit technique!

This technique is the simplest and most effective way to start an easy game. It will allow you to start very quickly and almost completely solve a grid.

In this course, we will see how to apply this technique and we will put it into practice through several examples. Very good course!

The full house technique

If we look carefully at the selected box in the grid below, we can see that in box 7, there is only one empty cell, the cell R7-C3.

According to the basic rules, there can be no duplicate numbers in a house, so it is very easy to deduce that the missing number is the number 2.

This scenario is called a full house. It means that all cells are filled inside a house except one.

You can be sure, which number should be in this cell, because a house always contains all numbers from 1 to 9, one each.

Here is another example of a full house, this time it is in line number 4.

Can you see which digit should be in R4C4?

It must surely be 5, as this is the only missing digit in the line.

A full house can be in a row, a column, and a box.
